The following message sent
out via ConnectED - the telephone system:

Good Evening this
is Mr. Fuller the Principal of Pinellas Preparatory Academy.
I hope this message finds you well and ready for the start
of a school year. Like all of you, I have been watching the
news to find out what will be happening with Tropical Storm
Fay. Please be aware that school is still scheduled to start
on Tuesday. Some news stations have reported that Pinellas
County has canceled school, this is NOT true, Pinellas has
not yet made a decision about Tuesday. During dangerous
weather, Pinellas Prep follows the decisions of Pinellas
County. If Pinellas County closes their schools, Pinellas
Prep will as well. Given that at this time the storm is not
expected to make landfall until Tuesday afternoon, we are
still planning on holding our open house on Monday evening.
Students in the lower grades should plan to attend at 6:00pm
and families with older students should plan to attend at
7:00pm. Please know that if our parking lot is full, the
church two buildings north of our school, New Testament, has
additional parking. Please watch our website, if there are
any changes in our plans we will immediately post it to our
website and send out another ConnectED message. Thank you
for your time, and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow
night.

- We are working on class lists, and they will be posted some
time tomorrow. Please be patient as we work to make sure
the lists are as accurate as possible.
- Car Pool should also be sent out tomorrow to those people
who filled out the car pool form.
- Don't forget that the PTEG meeting is
July 16, 2008
- Below is an email sent out to the PPA mailing List:
Good
afternoon PPA families,
I
hope you are enjoying your summer, or at least that your
children are enjoying theirs. Some of you may be glad
to know that school starts again in about five weeks.
J
Our
construction project here at school has been going well,
and the contractors anticipate finishing up next week,
so we are still scheduled to have our volunteer day on
Saturday, July 26. We hope you will be able to attend.
We will start at 8:00am at the school, and work until
we’re done or too tired to continue.
J
List at the end of this email you will find a list of
the types of activities which need to be completed. If
you are able to make it, please respond to let me know,
or call the office to put your name on the list
(536-3600). Remember that our goal is for each family
to put in 20 hours a year volunteering, and this would
be a great way to start your hours!
Also,
I wanted to let you know that we are utilizing a new
program for doing our email mailing list. I will be
subscribing this email address to the list for you. You
should be receiving a separate email asking you to
confirm that you would like to subscribe to the list,
you need to click on
the link within that email to confirm your subscription
otherwise you will not continue to receive email
updates. (Therefore
if you wish to be removed from our list, do nothing).
Those
of you who will be attending PPA in the fall should have
already received a packet of information about your
enrollment. If you have not received this packet yet,
you may download one from the website. There is a
special page on the site which is there for information
about the upcoming school year, and it can be accessed
at
http://www.pinellasprep.org/0809year/index.htm
Another question we have received several times over
the last couple weeks is about class assignments.
Students will not be assigned to classes until teachers
return from their summer vacation. I anticipate being
able to post class lists around August 13. The lists
(first names only) will be temporarily posted on the
website using the link above. Until that time, we can
not answer questions about who your child’s teacher will
be.
If
you have any other questions about the upcoming school
year, please feel free to email me or contact our
office. I look forward to seeing many of you next
Saturday, and all of you in August!

completed during the volunteer day. |

receive this email and would like to subscribe to the PPA General
Mailing List, click here.

- Summer Mailing Going Out Today - We mailed the summer
mailing to families enrolled as of last week. They are
being sent via standard mail, and families should receive them
within the next few days. However, if you would rather not
wait, please feel free to download it by
clicking here. We ask, however, that you wait for the
packet in the mail if possible, as it will be pre-populated with
your child's information.

- Webpage added - We're proud to say we've added this
page to our website to help families prepare for the 2008-09
school year. As the summer progresses more information the
school year will be added here. Within the next week we
anticipate mailing out summer packets which will have supply
lists, calendar, etc. As soon as the packet is completed it will
also be posted onto this webpage.
School Supply Lists
Summer Homework List
- All students will have a summer reading assignment. Please click
on the grade level below to see what the assignment is. On
each page you will also see links to purchase the books being
assigned on Amazon.com. You do not need to purchase the book from
Amazon, however, if you do use the links on these pages, a
percentage will be given to PPA. Most of these books are available
at the local public libraries.
Student Enrollment Numbers
We have already held our lottery for 2008-09, although
we are still accepted applications. Applications will be accepted
on a first-come / first-serve basis, and added to the end of the waiting
list. It is typical to have a lot of movement over the summer, so
if you are interested in having your child attend, please get your
application in as soon as possible.
