Read the book "Rules" by  Cynthia Lord

This summer students should read "Rules."  While reading, please keep in mind that we are all diverse people, with special talents, different experiences, original ideas and personal viewpoints. By the same token, all people share certain life experiences such as loneliness, anger, confusion, hope, joy, love, faith and relief. Every individual is unique, but students in the classroom like to subdivide sometimes, feeling like they belong in the same category as some, and not as others; please think of a time when you have had to overcome adversity, the feeling of being left out of the group and how you overcame those feeling. Please be ready to share your thoughts in class, also you should write a two page summary on the book to turn in when you return to school.
