Title: 4th Grade Langauge Arts & Social Studies Teacher
Start Date: Monday, August 11, 2008
Times: Full Time

Current school hours: 8:00 - 2:45 (Teachers work 8 hours per day)

Salary: First year teacher range is currently $37,300 - $40,471 based on education with additional increases for experience.

Salary may be increased at the start of the year during the budget process cycle.

Description: Pinellas Preparatory Academy is a public charter school.  We are based on the principles of providing a creative education for creative children. We try to reach the multiple intelligences of children and encourage group work among students. Please learn more about our approach to education by reading our page explaining our pedagogy.  Our class sizes are capped at 22 and our teachers are seen as professionals who have autonomy within their classrooms to ensure their students grasp the materials.  Our philosophy is not to teach to a test, but to do the very best job teaching the subject possible, so that the students can become well rounded citizens (who consequently, do very well on tests).

 

This person who is hired for this position will work closely with our other fourth grade teacher to provide a well rounded education to the fourth grade students at Pinellas Preparatory Academy. The teacher will divide the day up and take turns with the students. We will have about 44 fourth grade student between the two classes.  The other teacher (Mrs. Huneke) teachers Math and Science, and the new person will specialize in Language Arts and Social Studies.

Qualifications: Persons qualified for this position will hold a valid Florida Teaching Certificate in the area of "Elementary Education."

 

We are looking for an energetic and hands on educator. This person should be a team player who is willing to take ownership in and commit themselves to a small school dedicated to providing the best possible education. Being a small school, flexibility is essential in a qualified candidate. Classroom experience is a plus. Preference is also given to candidates who have a degree in education.
