Description: Pinellas Preparatory Academy is a public charter school.  We are based on the principles of providing a creative education for creative children. We try to reach the multiple intelligences of children and encourage group work among students. Please learn more about our approach to education by reading our page explaining our pedagogy.  Our class sizes are capped at 22 and our teachers are seen as professionals who have autonomy within their classrooms to ensure their students grasp the materials.  Our philosophy is not to teach to a test, but to do the very best job teaching the subject possible, so that the students can become well rounded citizens (who consequently, do very well on tests).

The person who is hired for this position will work with a team of three other teachers to teach four sections of students (all seventh graders). Each teacher is responsible for a homeroom and being the primary contact person for the students in their homeroom.  Additionally, each person specializes in a core academic area (Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies), and the sections rotate between the teachers throughout the day. A strong sense of team is essential to ensuring a positive experience for the students.

Qualifications: Persons qualified for this position will hold a valid Florida Teaching Certificate in the area of "Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum" or "Middle Grades Mathematics."

We are looking for an energetic and hands on educator. This person should be a team player who is willing to take ownership in and commit themselves to a small school dedicated to providing the best possible education. Being a small school, flexibility is essential in a qualified candidate. Classroom experience is a plus. Preference is also given to candidates who have a degree in education.

Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.

Comments: Pinellas Preparatory Academy is an independent employer.  Our teachers are hired by PPA, not by the Pinellas County School Board.
