We currently have a teacher in this position who is
contemplating moving into another position within the school.
We will be interviewing people to help us make a decision on the
most qualified person for each position. |
| Salary: |
First year teacher range is currently $37,300 - $40,471 based on
education with additional increases for experience.

| Description: |
Pinellas Preparatory Academy is a public charter school.
We are based on the principles of providing a creative
education for creative children. We try to reach the multiple
intelligences of children and encourage group work among
students. Please learn more about our approach to education by

pedagogy. Our class
sizes are capped at 22 and our teachers are seen as
professionals who have autonomy within their classrooms to
ensure their students grasp the materials. Our philosophy
is not to teach to a test, but to do the very best job teaching
the subject possible, so that the students can become well
rounded citizens (who consequently, do very well on tests).
PPA currently has 1.5 PE/Health teachers and is hoping to
increase the number to 1.6 or 1.7 FTE (Full Time Equivalency)
next year. This person would assist with teaching either sixth
or eighth grade health (once a week) and physical education.
Currently our fourth and fifth graders receive PE everyday for
1/2 an hour, and our middle school students receive PE twice a
week. We are contemplating increasing the time middle
school students receive, which is why we are currently uncertain
of the exact hours for this position. |
| Qualifications: |
Persons qualified for this position will hold a valid
Florida Teaching Certificate in the area of "Health
(Grades K-12)" or "Physical
Education (Grades K-12)."
We are looking for an energetic and hands on educator. This
person should be a team player who is willing to take ownership
in and commit themselves to a small school dedicated to providing the best
possible education. Being a small school, flexibility is
essential in a qualified candidate. Classroom experience is a
plus. Preference is also given to candidates who have a degree
in education.
